Typically, a half-cord is a good starting point when it comes to your firewood needs. A half-cord will burn for several sessions and keep your family warm in the winter.

You should only burn hardwoods in your furnace unless you have your chimney serviced often. Otherwise, wood like oak, pecan and hickory are
quality woods that will burn longer and produce a pure soot as not to film your fireplace.
A true cord measurement is 4x4x8. The most common fireplace size is about 22” long so our logs are cut 19” to 21” in order to fit the needs of
everyone. The evolved term for this is face cord.
You should order your firewood in one of three sizes:
quarter cord- 4’ tall x 4’ wide
half cord- 4’ tall x 8’ wide
full cord- 4’ tall x 16’ wide
